About the event

Dr. Julius Garvey, son of Jamaican human rights pioneer Marcus Garvey, is visiting the UK in October 2022 for an historic tour to continue his father's legacy of promoting cultural and racial unity.

Dr. Garvey will use the empowerment philosophy of his father, Marcus Garvey, and his own experience of becoming an eminent vascular surgeon to inspire and mentor young people and encourage social change through multiculturalism.

The tour, which expects to reach more than 1.5 million people across the country, will also see the launch of a campaign to raise awareness and funds for a permanent UK memorial to Marcus Garvey.

Following his highly successful tour in 2013, reaching a total audience of more than 1.5 million people, Dr Garvey will take part in a series of events focusing on how to achieve unity within diversity and the relevance of the Garvey legacy to inspire young leaders and entrepreneurs of the future.

This years tour is being launched on the 19th of October in Liverpool at an exclusive reception with Mayor Joanne Anderson, followed by a full programme of education and cultural events in the city. Dr Garvey will be visiting Bath, and London Goldsmiths University in Lewisham on his journey.

The tour will conclude October 24th for an evening talk and reception with Dr Garvey at Lewisham Council Chambers within the town hall on Catford Road. We hope the local community and others from afar can join us to celebrate how far weve come in the fight for unity and give a good farewell to Dr Garvey for what we hope will be a fantastic tour!
